81. Healing a Blind Man

He came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man, and begged Jesus to touch him. He took hold of the blind man’s hand, and led him out of the village. When he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands on him, he asked if he saw anything.

He looked up, and said, “I see men; they are like trees walking.”

Then again he laid his hands on his eyes. The man was restored, and saw everyone clearly. Jesus sent him away to his house, saying, “Don’t enter into the village, nor tell anyone in the village.”

Reflection

This is the only example of a partial healing by Jesus; a second touch was needed before the healing was complete. Have you ever been anxious for a quick fix of a problem which ended up requiring more time than you expected? Is it easier for you to counsel patience for others than to practice it in your own life?

Prayer: Give me patience, Lord, when answers to my problems don’t come as quickly as I would like.
