44. Grace-Filled Living

“Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged. By whatever standard you judge others, you will be judged yourself; whatever measure you use for others will be used for you. Why do you see the speck of dust in another’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own? Or how will you tell someone, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’ when you have a beam in your own? You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of another’s eye.

“Don’t give what is holy to dogs, nor throw your pearls before pigs, lest they fail to appreciate them and come after you instead.

“Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks, receives. Whoever seeks, finds. To anyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there any among you, who, if your children ask for bread, will give them a stone? Or if they ask for a fish, will give them a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Do you find it easier to see the faults of others than your own? Do you extend to others the grace God extends to you?
Prayer: Open my eyes to see my faults, Lord, and open my heart to receive the good gifts that come through your grace.
